Cross Laminated Timber
Cross-laminated timber is a large-scale engineered wood panel made by stacking layers of lumber in alternating directions, bonding them with adhesives and pressing them to create large panels. The longest panels currently produced are 20 feet wide by 60 feet long and range from 5 to 16 inches in thickness. CLT is lightweight, strong, and can be prefabricated to streamline construction with cutouts for windows and doors, plumbing, wiring, and ventilation ducts, making it an alternative to concrete, masonry
CLT is proving to be a very flexible design and building material; with its superior acoustic, fire, seismic, and insulating performance it is used to build walls, floors
